Shenandoah Weekend

It has been a beautiful weekend camping and hiking in Shenandoah National Park. It has been a very rainy Spring and the result is beautiful greenery and flowers everywhere. The mountain air was so fresh and wonderful. We felt healthier just staying there for two days. We hiked the Lewis Mountain Falls trail which may have been a bit much for me after feeling sick for so many weeks but we did it and I am not a bit sore.

This time we towed the jeep and that was great fun as we were able to do more exploring. The dogs love to tour that way too. It was sort of rainy but not too bad, mostly sprinkles.

My sister, Alice Webb, just told me that the flowers I shot are a variety of Mountain Laurel. She has a cultivated version in her yard. The flowers are almost unreal and they have a beautiful star pattern on the back.
