Aunt Barbara

There is just something wonderful about unique old family photos and this one is very special. The children in the photograph are (we think) Richard's father, Bob Edwards with his sister Barbara. Barbara passed away last week. We were very fond of her and we enjoyed spending time with her a few years ago on Whidbey Island at a family gathering. We are also very fond of her two daughters, Mary Svela and Sarah Westcott. We had a terrific time with Mary and Sarah in Devon, England a couple of years ago at the Edwards/Pryor family reunion.

Here is part of Barbara's obituary:
Barbara Wescott Leith died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 20, 2009. She was born January 20, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from High School in Philadelphia 1937 and returned to Michigan to attend Suomi College. In 1941 she married Dr. Roy Wescott and they moved to Everett in 1942. During World War II, Roy served as a Navy Surgeon in the Pacific theater. After the war, they returned to Everett, bringing Barbara's parents. They raised their five children together until Roy and her parents died in 1957. In 1969, she married Howard Sievers. They made their home on Whidbey Island, and enjoyed winters in Palm Desert. Howard died in 1980. Barbara married Robert Elton Leith in 1984. During their 25 year marriage they lived on Whidbey, Mill Creek and Palm Desert, enjoying travel and golf as members of the Everett Golf and Country Club and Bermuda Dunes Country Club. She was a long-time member of the Women's Book Club of Everett.
