We spent the last couple of weeks in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and it was wonderful. I suppose, if we had teenaged kids they would have complained bitterly about the endless boredom but to us it was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. We brought a lot of things to entertain ourselves, computers, books, DVDs, sketch books but even though we did read a bit, contemplating our surroundings was the best entertainment of all. Our favorites were the never-ending sunsets, dramatically different every night, along with the mood of Lake Superior. The light show would start around 9:30 pm and the last light would flicker out after 11.
I could have stayed forever but there is little commerce there so back we go to the crazy over populated east coast and our businesses to make our way in the world. The memories linger. I did learn to use our video camera when I was there so when I conquer editing I will attempt to post a movie of our little Rivendell in the UP of Michigan.
Here are some more photos from the UP! http://picasaweb.google.com/chuckiefrog/UpperPeninsulaOfMichigan#

Hi Charley, it was lovely to check into your blogg again after being away for so long. But so sorry to hear of your bad health which thankfully has resolved. Those hospital bugs are so bad I know, although luckily not from personal experience. Emily and I had a wonderful time on the Camino de Santiago in Spain where we walked about half the distance - we walked for 404 kms over 21 days through beautiful country, staying in refugios and meeting some very lovely people.
