Last week was crazy. We drove to Hopkins almost everyday and I had a million tests. They drew lots of blood, I had an HIV test and even a pregnancy test - what a joke. That would be the immaculate conception!By Wednesday they gave me the all clear and I reviewed my case with Dr. Emens. She really likes the wild nail polish. She says it is a way she relates to her patients. Cool. I really like her. Anyway, I am not preggers and I don't have HIV. Best of all, my bone mets are stable and not wildly progressing. Hooray! So right after that they injected some of the vaccine under my skin and also some Candida for comparison. Well, my immune system killed the Candida off right away. They said that was unusual. As for the vaccine it felt like bee stings! Youch! But I did okay with that as well.
On Friday the good stuff began. They took huge amounts of my blood. Hmmmm, looked like more than the cup they requested and they took a chunk of skin from my leg. Since then I have been buzzing around getting ready for my week in Baltimore. This is going to be interesting and it is only the beginning.
Also Friday night we had a bit of excitement. A very angry severe thunderstorm came in and bam! A large beech tree in our yard snapped in two and we also lost a couple of small ones. Large branches all over the place. It was very quick and violent. Richard was dismayed since he had worked for weeks fixing up the yard. What a mess. The frogs and toads are happy though. They sang all night.
